DOI / VISTA Team

About Us

DOI/VISTA is operated as a part of Community Stewards, the AmeriCorps*VISTA arm of the Build. Restore. Innovate. Develop. Grow. Empower. (BRIDGE) Network. DOI/VISTA is funded by DOI, AmeriCorps*VISTA, and individual DOI Bureaus.

VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) is a part of the Corporation for National and Community Service and is the major federal partner with DOI in the DOI/VISTA Initiative. VISTAs are college-educated men and women completing a year of national service in impoverished communities. VISTAs earn a monthly living stipend and receive a $5,775 Segal AmeriCorps Education Award upon completing their service. All VISTAs receive a year of non-competitive eligibility for all federal positions upon finishing their year of service.

BRIDGE Network is a program of Conservation Legacy. Conservation Legacy is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to cultivate local action to produce enduring widespread impact in communiteis, ecosystems, and people.

Both DOI and AmeriCorps*VISTA have appointed program officers who work regularly with BRIDGE Network staff to promote programmatic excellence.

Additional support for members and supervisors is provided by the office of Dr. T. Allan Comp, DOI Program Officer and Team Founder in Washington D.C.
